Longest short week of my life

Work has been hell. I seriously have been going in early and leaving late. I guess it's the growing pains of moving warehouses and not having half your inventory in the same place. I think it's going to be that way for the next couple months. At least until after Christmas. The Christmas season rush is starting on Friday. It feels like it started Monday. I barely got through all of the order holds that were placed on Monday, today. Our UPS count usually drops during the week after Monday. It went up. Monday we had just over 1o0. Tuesday we had 155 and today we had 177. Most of the items were shipped through my shipping line. I. Am. So. Tired. I slept in till the last possible moment this morning; pulled some jeans and socks on and left. I'm wearing the same shirt I did yesterday and the thing is, I really don't care right now. I want to sleep. But at the same time I don't want to get some much sleep that I feel gross or wake up at an ungodly hour. Monday I went to

The Study of Jake part 2

Last night, my sister and I went up Hobble Creek Canyon to hang out with a couple of our friends. I invited Jake to come along just so we wouldn't be by ourselves up there. Sam-the girl that is absolutely in love with Jake-was also there. We had a short conversation just between the 2 of us about her being in love with Jake. Apparently, she thought she wasn't being obvious about the whole thing over the summer. Ha...right. As if you couldn't tell that she was in love with him. Anyway, she was telling me that his opinion about she wanted to do with her life mattered to her so much that she probably wouldn't do anything without asking Jake first. She also told me that she loved him so much that she worries about him when he's gone for work. He travels every other week for work and is gone 3 to 1o days at a time. This conversation reminded me of how I felt about a certain Mark Morris back in high school. I eventually got over him. Prom was in April? So I guess it took

The study of Jake

So I have this friend named Jake. Jake is a really cool guy. He's charming, laid back, funny. He's a lot of things, but seeing as I'm writing this at work, I'll spare some of the details. I'm starting to like him. I've been trying to not like him that way because my friend Sam has been in like with him since...well for a while now. Anyhow, he came to church with me yesterday. He only stayed for sacrament but still. The girls in Relief Society were like, "So was that guy with you today your boyfriend?" Seriously. I got that question at least 5 times yesterday. So it's out there. I like him. I really don't think anything will come of it. I really don't want anything to come of it. I want to keep him as a friend above all else. Hopefully Jake doesn't come upon this blog...that could be awkward.

Band practice

I went to my first Wasatch Winds Symphonic Band practice last night. It was quite the experience. For someone like me, who hasn't played my instrument of choice since 8 Th grade, this experience was like someone learning to drive in a little Podunk town with one stop sign and then moving to somewhere like LA or New York and trying to drive with the millions of other drivers. I lost my spot in the music numerous times, couldn't keep up with fingering. My brain was reading the music but my fingers couldn't keep up with the notes. I play the piano as well and when I practice by myself, I can stop and muddle through a passage of music or work on a couple of measures at a time. With a band, you just keep going. There's no stopping for anyone to go back and pound out the measures they're having problems with. True, it was the first practice of the night and it's pretty normal for a band to muddle through the pieces without stopping to really perfect a few measures.

First blog of the month

So, I'm starting a new blog. Turning over a new leaf of sorts I suppose. I've been so much changing over the past year, I need to shed off the old and let the new shine through. Anyway, I was looking through some blogs of some old school mates of mine. I came upon Valerie Kaur . She and I met in second grade in Mrs. Sarkisian's class. Let me just say this: I'm pretty sure she knew where she was headed from the get go. She is probably one of the smartest people I know...and I know a lot of people from all over the world. If she ran for President of the United States, I would totally vote for her. Not because I'm all for females being more active in society and government, but because she's really dedicated to what she does. Well, I have to scoot off to band practice. I'm joining a community symphony of sorts here in American Fork. It should be fun. I'll post about it later.
