In need of a boyfriend who will read me poetry

I love ee cummings. I love the fact that he spells his name using all lower case letters. its quirky. Here's one of his poems that I really like. Oh, and yes, I fell for this poem before it was used in "In Her Shoes". i carry your heart with me i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my hear)i am never without it( anywhere i go you go, my dear, and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling) i fear no fate(for you are my fate, my sweet) i want no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Oh, Mr. President

*ETA: This has been sitting in my draft box for a few days. I wasn't sure who even read my blog, but at this point, since so many people have been talking about it, I'm finally finishing and publishing this post. I'm not sure why people were getting in such a tizzy over President Obama's speech to school-aged children all over the United States. Seriously. I read the transcripts and there was absolutely nothing even remotely political in it. Why would a Utah County parent pull their kid out of school so they could miss this speech? If it were anyone other than President Obama, would they have left them in school to hear the speech? And why were schools so worried about sending notices or even permission slips? Did they think that the President was going to brainwash them or force them to have the same ideals and opinions as he? Honestly. All he really said was stay in school. If you make a mistake or fail, it doesn't mean you're stupid or dumb. It just means you...

Gratitude and Blessings

So, I wanted to update on my little challenge of rededicating myself to putting the Lord first in my life. Just to warn you, my eyes are burning right now from lack of sleep, but this oddly ties into this blog. Monday, I started after my institute class and I told myself, "Self, you will do this challenge. You need to do this challenge to remind yourself that the Lord is there for you." So, I did. I started immediately after my institute class. I had 2 hours left and 2 institute classes to attend so I figured that I'd read my scriptures before my English class after institute. I read my scriptures and said a quick prayer that I'd do well on my English quiz. We didn't have the quiz. Which I guess was sort of a blessing in disguise and a clue that I should study for said quiz. I didn't of course. Anyway, I digress. Monday, we ended up writing a sample paper on happiness so that the Professor could tell if we're plagiarizing any future papers. Tuesday rolls ...

On the first day of school, my Professor gave to me...

It all started on a summer morning in August. I woke up before my alarm went off, which is something I NEVER do voluntarily. Maybe it was nerves or just the fact that I had gone to bed about three hours prior so it was meant to happen. Anyway, I wake up, roll out of bed throw some clean unfolded wrinkly clothes on and get upstairs to eat my bagel and peanut butter. I was ready. My stomach rumbled and grumbled to show its distaste for eating earlier than 9am and because, well, I was nervous. My classes are going to be pretty awesome this semester. Three of my five classes anyway. Hospitality, Intro to Business and English. My English Professor is pulling double duty this year - she teaches at Weber State as well - and is an adamantly professed hater of cell phones and also, as it were, an atheist. She's a little scary in the sense that she's so over the top. She doesn't say anything about religion because, well, she doesn't have a religion, she would probably drop a coup...

A list

I am a fan of lists. Seriously. I enjoy making grocery lists, to-do lists, list of names that are unique and that I like, lists for things to spend my leftover pell grant and stafford monies on, lists for things I want to accomplish in my life. You get the picture. I heart lists. Confession: I'm a type B personality wanting to be organized. *Watching scary movies are much less scary when turned down and with the subtitles on. They are also much easier to tolerate when other people are watching it with you. *I dyed my hair back to its natural color. No more summery highlights for the rest of the season. Its a little weird seeing myself in the mirror with super black hair. *School starts in 5 days. I'm slightly nervous but I'm more excited than anything else. *I spent the majority of my unemployment check on totally useless stuff this week. Well, I did buy school supplies. But most of it was totally useless. *When I grow up, I want a bathroom with one of those freestanding tu...

She was special...

I have 10 days till my pell grant and Stafford loan hit the school and my tuition and fees are paid in full. 17 days till I get the rest of the money. 17 looooooooooooong days. I want the money now! I have a list of things I need to buy. Responsible things like textbooks, school supplies, an eye dr. appointment, tithing, dentist appointment. But I would be exceedingly happy if I could spend the rest of my loan/grant money on things like an iPod, paint and wall mounted shelves for my room, clothes and shoes, a car...a laptop. If I could get away without buying my textbooks for the semester, I'd choose the the irresponsible list and waste away my money. But alas... Responsibility is what you'd except with a 28 year old and I'm pretty sure that I can't get away without my books this semester.

Unmotivated

Midnight is approaching far too quickly for me. I should be in bed...you know, practicing the whole "early to bed early to rise" adage. But nope...I am pretty much at the point of rebellion and am putting off retraining myself before school starts. I still can't believe I signed up for classes that start before 10am. Oh well, this fall semester I will be getting out of class before 1pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on Tuesday and Thursday, I'm out before 11:30am. How marvelous it feels to be done with my face to face contact with my soon-to-be-determined-if-they're-boring teachers at a decent hour! (Which reminds me, I need to check what books I need for the fall...this could be a disastrous way to end a perfectly good day.) Bah. I just completed a Sexual Harassment training for UVU. Oh yeah. I forgot to say that I have a temporary job working in the UVU Bookstore for Fall Book Rush. My chances of staying on may be a little slim. From what my trainer said ...
