Christmas Tunes

Sometime last summer, I downloaded Spotify to my dad's old desktop computer. I didn't really think anything about it when I moved to Portland last December and didn't have regular computer access. But when I bought my laptop in March, I immediately downloaded it and I haven't looked at iTunes at all. I do have an iPod. A really spiffy, sleek, shiny kelly green iPod. I haven't taken it out since March. Although, the one day that I wanted to download new music, I do something weird on my laptop and erase EVERYTHING. I'm bummed. My little 11 year old brother had recorded him doing some sweet dance moves. Anyway, I've been compiling my Christmas tunes list since November 1st. I feel like it's still WAY too early to be listening to Christmas music all the time, but at least once a week, I bring it out and listen to some of my list. Also, really random, Spotify teaches you something you never knew. For example: I never knew that the boys from One Direction have accents. I only know one song from their arsenal. So yeah. There is your tidbit of random, useless information. One Direction is from the UK.

Moving on.

I don't work at all this week. Well, I work Saturday. This whole week, the "inmates" at my place of employment are on Trek. They will be spending the rest of this week in the snow, camping and getting in touch with their inner...I don't know. They must have some good down at their very core. Anyway, since they're gone for the week, I have nothing to do. Except that stupid work meeting I have tomorrow at noon...I probably should set my alarm clock now...oy. I'm really not excited to learn about Aflac.

Oh!! I have been turned on to Phillip Phillips. That kid...his music makes me happy. He kind of reminds me of Mumford and Sons. I like him. A lot. You should go listen to his single, like, right now.

Ready? Set? Go!

Did you go? Isn't it such a nice song? He's a 20 year old kid from the South. Also, I've been to a little bit of Whitney. I kind of have a thing for her voice. Go listen to I Look to You. The version I'm listening to right now, her voice isn't at it's best, but she's Whitney, so therefore, she is still pretty awesome.

I love music. When you don't have the words, music says it for you.

Oh man, I don't think I've written about my new place. It's...okay. I guess. I live in the a land of the perpetually young. My roommates, as nice as they are, are sOOOOOO young. As in, I'm at least a decade older than they are. I am constantly reminded how grateful I am to not be that young. Whenever their guy friends come over to visit them, I leave my door a crack just to listen to the asinine things that come out of their mouths. I always end up rolling my eyes a thousand times during the course of their conversations. Part of my wonders if I had conversations like they did. I probably did, but not to the ridiculous extent of their conversations. Oy...just thinking about what they talk about, makes me shake my head and laugh. Other than that, I keep to myself. I've probably turned into a hermit in the week and half that I've been here at the Branbury.

Anyway, it's taken me far too long to type this much and I'm falling asleep. So, until next time, dear reader.

Hooray!

I've lost 9.2 pounds in the last 6 days. I'm excited! The picture really doesn't have anything to do with weight loss per se, but it does have the word reduce on it and I took the picture, so I'm putting it up. :-]

Sleepiness becomes me

*sigh* I miss the ocean. Not really the Atlantic Ocean, although I have to say that the East Coast has some beautiful beaches. But the Pacific Ocean will always be home to me. I miss it. I miss the hot sand, the coconut scented sunscreen and tanning oil, the salty sea air, the random volleyball games, the hot surfer boys. I miss it all. Its my favorite place where you can watch the sunset while looking out over the water. Its amazing! Sure, it gets hot, but really? When you're there at the beach looking at the water, taking it all in, it doesn't really matter how hot it is. I've always loved the water. It has a calming effect over me like lavender oil in a steamy bath. I wish I could just be a beach bum for the rest of my life. I'd take photos and sell them to support my needs. Kind of like what Thoreau did at Walden Pond. I really only need the simple things in life and the beach and ocean. I could get along without my phone and definitely without my alarm clock. Just

Slowly but surely

The weight loss has slowed just a little. I've only lost roughly 3 pounds this week. But I am determined to lose at least 80 pounds by my birthday. It's a tall order that's for sure. I have about 34 days to do it. I have to lose 2.4 pounds a day to surpass my goal by a little over than a pound. I suppose I'll have to be more diligent on my diet and exercising. I won't be disappointed if I come close though. The whole point of me going on any sort of exercise/diet plan is to get healthy and to get ready for Hawaii. I refuse to fly on a plane at my current weight. Mostly because I don't want to be embarrassed if I have to get a seat belt extender. I don't want to. I refuse to be one of those people that have to get special accommodations because of my weight just to fly. I think that I've come a long way from how I ate and exercised before. I pretty much look forward to my walks every day and I don't crave soda anymore. I actually had about 4 ounces of
