A Little ♥ and Soul

So, I started this post a couple days ago with the intention of actually finishing it. But I didn't. Instead, I went to bed early because I've been sick. Last week, I was so violently sick, I had to stay in bed for 2 days. Two HORRIBLE days of chills, a fever and nausea. Thankfully I didn't vomit. I hate doing it. Anyway, whatever I had turned into an equally horrible cold. From Thursday through Saturday, I was out for the count. Sunday, I had to go back to work since I had already missed my shift on Friday. Thankfully I had a short shift because the thought of having to work a full shift made me even more tired than I already was. Monday, I went home early when my voice decided to take a hike. After lots of water and Gatorade and rest, I'm happy to report that I am on the mend. To say that I've been resting a lot would be an understatement. I literally have been sleeping and laying in bed as much as I can. Today, I woke up around 10 AM but stayed in bed till abou...

So. I guess I should update this blog once in a while. I haven't really done anything exciting. I did get a new roommate though. That's exciting, right? In honor of May starting, I started a photo a day project. So far so good. I should probably post some of the pictures here. Just thinking about all the copying and pasting though... makes me a little tired. a little not so patient to sit and copy the links from my instagram. I think I've fallen in love with Instagram. It's my new favorite app on my phone. Well, aside from Scramble and Words with Friends. I love my smartphone. uhm.. hm. I guess I need to do something a bit more exciting with my days off.

There is a certain website out there in the land of internet that has caught on like a wildfire. Seriously. If I didn't have to work and/or people just gave me money to sit around all day to play on this website, I probably, maybe would. Okay, maybe not all day. Anyway,  Pinterest  is probably one of the biggest time sucks out there. And I mean that in the kindest of ways. Basically, it's a virtual pin board for anything crafty, holiday ideas, clothes you want to try, recipes that make you salivate just thinking about them. It takes the manual labor out of the equation. No scissors. No glue. No buying poster boards. For OCD people like me, Pinterest keeps it all stored in one spot and arranges any post into the category of my choosing.  Anyhow, the whole point of me sharing this, is that on one of my pin boards, there is a certain pin that has reached epic proportions. So...I went into Portland today with my roomie/bestie. We saw this little park in the middle of the city and they had these cool little elephant statues and I just had to take a photo.  Aren't they cool?  This was our second/final stop of the day. Seriously, these donuts may not look so good, but believe me, they are so worth the 10 minute wait. Ask for a Voodoo Dozen. :-) And the crowning moment of the whole trip into the city... well...I guess you can't really tell, but we spent the most of our time in Powell's City of Books. This is a photo out of the 3rd floor window of the Pearl section - photography/coffee/art room. Powell's City of Books is seriously the biggest bookstore I have ever seen in my whole life. F O U R floors of 12 foot tall bookshelves on every subject you could possibly think of. It was seriously heaven on earth for me. Dear Sunshine, I was so happy to find you peeking through the clouds this morning. So happy, in fact, that I was excited to start my day of errands. Two hours later, though, you've gone away and your evil cousin has settled in. That's right. It is pouring rain right now. POURING. Why? Why did you have to go away? Don't you know I wanted to do something fun today? Didn't you know that your patchy sunshine-y goodness would have made the day that much more enjoyable rather than sheets of rain? I have felt the need to catch up with the world wide web this past week. Since purchasing my laptop just a couple days ago - almost a week - I've been blog stalking, Facebook stalking, Twitter stalking (though not as fun as Facebook), watching my shows on Hulu, catching up on my YouTube channel subscriptions,  reading  skimming my NY Times subscription, trying to find cool stuff to do in Portland, ordering work pants online, adding stuff to my Amazon wish list. The list could go on for eternity, but I won't bore you. With all this "catching up", I haven't slept very well. It's nearly 2 AM and I have to be at work at 8 AM. Yep. I have less than five hours to sleep tonight...awesome. I was supposed to be in bed at least an hour ago but being me, I needed to clean up my room after going to Target and Rite Aid tonight. So, obviously - or not - I haven't posted anything in the last month. Mostly, because a certain laptop decided to take a nosedive into oblivion. I feel like this month sabbatical from the internet was good for me. I really didn't get more done, necessarily, but I wasn't staying up late playing games on Facebook or lurking through blogs of people I don't know. I do, however, feel like I missed out on a lot. You know, like little tidbits of people's lives and whatnot. But it's okay. I got my Federal tax refund today and I will be - finally - purchasing a laptop. So, I guess that month off from all things internet will be in vain. Maybe. I don't know. Anyway, enough of the not even close to connecting ideas/sentences. I don't know if I posted in my last post that I got a job. I did. I've been working 40 hours a week for what feels like very little money. Although, I can't complain a whole lot, it is a job. Bottom line, I get paid. Not a whole lo...
