What the...

Where did October go? I coulda sworn it just started and now I'm down to 19 days left at work and 33 days left before I move. I also could have worked a little bit longer instead of having a whole week to just stress myself out...needlessly. But those seven days will be wonderful to have to spend with my family and friends and just tie up the loose strings. I've been a nervous ball of stress trying to get apartment paperwork done and transfer stuff done and resume/cover letter/reference pages done and this done and that done and... ...ugh... the list could go on forever! If the paperwork could just magically do itself, I'd be okay because then I could get down to business and clean out my closet. Throw away stuff/paperwork/knickknacks I don't want/need. In the 7 1/2 months I've worked at the DI, I've accumulated stuff I didn't even need. At least I'll be getting more of a charitable donation write off for my taxes. Mostly, I think I just make myself stre...

Reasons

So, you remember from the last post when I said things were "a-changin'"? Well, they are. I'm moving to Hillsboro, Oregon. ETA: November 1st, but probably November 4th so I can at least finish the pay period instead of leaving in the middle of it. Anyway, here's a quick list of things I bet you didn't know about Hillsboro: *It's near the ghost town of Idiotville, Oregon. Real place. Wiki or google it. *What Draper, Utah is to SLC is exactly what Hillsboro is unto Portland. Almost the same place. *Has AMAZING parks and waterfalls. *All voting is done by mail. Secretly, I'm a little bummed about not getting a "I voted" sticker. Okay, so I could only really think of 4 things that you might not have known about Hillsboro or the surrounding area. Oregon as a state though, is pretty dang fantastic. I'll finally be able to partake in the Goonie-for-the-day festivities in Astoria. While there are many reasons why I'm moving away, the main rea...

Movers and Shakers

So, my sister and I finally moved back to Provo. It would seem that neither of us can get enough of Provizzle. We got lucky and found a place that included almost all of the utilities - except gas and electric - and found a roommate off CraigsList who isn't psycho. We are, however, looking for a fourth roommate. So dear readers, if you know of someone who needs a place, let me know. Anyhow, in the midst of moving everything, buying groceries, and storage bins, I have come to find that I love WinCo. I love that store. Probably more than any other grocery store that I've ever gone to. They've got cheap cheese, Tillamook Vanilla Bean ice cream, 3 pack of popcorn for 78 cents, and my personal favorite - bulk foods. I bought honey, almond butter, 2 different types of flour, pancake mix, biscuit mix, jasmine rice, 3 different kinds of sugar, and a whole bunch of spices that were about 10 times - cheaper than the already bottled stuff at WalMart and Maceys. Seriously, if you lov...

I can do hard things

School has started. I love that on the first day of class it smells of freshly mowed grass and that the buildings smell clean. The Woodbury has gotten its face-lift and parts of campus have gotten a little lift as well. I think it's weird that the incoming freshmen, the ones right out of high school, are so small. I don't know...like whenever you drive past the MTC and the missionaries are, they all look small. Anyhow, I've gone to all my classes and my professors, I think, will all be pretty cool. Although, I'm not terribly excited about my math class. I already missed the second day of class. I had one of those mornings where you intend to wake up and get to class on time, but totally turned off my alarm clock unconsciously turned off my alarm clock. Well, I guess I'd have to be a quarter lucid to reach over and turn it off, but I have absolutely no recollection of ever moving my arm to do so. Let me tell you, it's been a long week of not getting enough sleep...

Alaska

So, I'm not going to Alaska. I'm not as bummed as I thought I would be, but I'm going to miss the potential money that would have come from that job. Honestly, I wanted to go and I even prayed about it knowing that I probably shouldn't go. I applied anyway. What's the harm in trying, right? Anyway, I'm still looking for a better job. The bookstore just isn't cutting it and I'm already stressed out about the bills that seem to be piling up against my wishes. Psh...how dare they? They didn't even ask my permission! I guess it's a good thing that I'm not going. Apparently Heavenly Father has a bigger plan for me and wants me to find some other way to pay for school. It would have been sooo nice to not really have to try and save for school when there aren't any stores in the area of Alaska I would have been going to. Gosh...don't you hate that? Every time I wanted to be given the easy way of doing things, Heavenly Father thinks that it...

The end of another week

So, I'm officially moving in next weekend into my new place of residence. I am so excited! I guess I'm more excited about being closer to work and my friends and going back to the ward where everything seemed to turn around in my life and spirituality. I still don't know who the second roommate is yet. Jake couldn't remember her name when I asked him the other day. Jake has surprised me, yet again. I texted him today while I was in a lull at work and asked how the remodeling was going. He moved my bed from the garage into my room. I was full on expecting to have to move it myself next weekend. Goes to show that he's a true friend....man, I just love that guy! I seriously wasn't expecting him to move any of my stuff, but he did and that makes me like him even more. Anyway, I'm almost done with work and my weekend can officially begin. I have to stop off at the library before I head home and pick up some books that were put on hold. Reading, packing, painting ...
